I know that ideas and details are boring. But there is a reason we look at them and vote for them.
In a monarchy, there can be good leaders and bad leaders. They don't follow the rule of laws set up prior to them, they make them up as they go. So as a result, we have benevolent monarchs and malevolent dictators.
A democracy, following precedents, rules of laws, the will of a majority and the voice of a minority, swings back and forth in a limited arc between great and terrible, like a metronome.
In this election, there are four websites that you can read (if you can read, and if you have the patience), the Democratic Platform, and the Hillary Clinton website, and the Republican Platform and Donald Trump's website. (Yes, you can also go see what the Libertarian Party and the Green Party put up, but keep in mind, they also have to persuade the House and Senate if they want to get anything done).
